The EMUGE CU50C400.5046 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting internal threads in a variety of metals encountered in production and maintenance machining environments. Built from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with EMUGE GLT-1 proprietary coating, this tap is engineered for demanding threading applications where heat resistance and edge retention are critical. It produces a 7/16-20 UNF right-hand thread to a 2B class of fit, with a modified bottoming chamfer that allows threading closer to the bottom of blind holes. The 45-degree helix angle helps pull chips up and out of the hole during the cut, reducing the risk of chip packing in blind-hole applications. Machinists and toolroom technicians in metalworking and manufacturing environments use this tap.
This tap is suited for blind-hole and through-hole threading in steel, stainless steel, aluminum alloy, copper, copper alloy, and high-temperature alloys. The modified bottoming chamfer makes it a practical choice when thread engagement must begin close to the hole bottom. The Enorm series fast flute style is intended for efficient chip evacuation at higher production feed rates. It is commonly used in CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and rigid tapping setups where consistent thread quality across high-volume runs is required. Coolant-through capability is not included on this tap, so external flood or mist coolant delivery should be used when cutting stainless or high-temp alloys.
Rated for use in aluminum alloy, copper, copper alloy, steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, N, and S are supported. Part of the EMUGE Enorm series.
Installation and use of this tap should be performed by a qualified machinist following established shop safety procedures. Power down and lock out any machine tool before changing or setting tooling. Use a rigid tapping holder or synchronized tapping attachment to match the tap pitch and avoid thread damage or tool breakage. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or flood coolant for the workpiece material, particularly when working with stainless steel or high-temperature alloys.
