The EMUGE CU50C400.5012 is a spiral flute tap designed for threading 7/16-14 UNC holes in a wide range of metallic materials. Built from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a GLT-1 coating, this tap handles demanding applications where heat and tool wear are concerns. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of blind holes. With 4 flutes, a 45-degree helix angle, and a fast flute style, it evacuates chips efficiently in through and blind-hole applications. Overall length is 3.937 inches with a thread length of 0.709 inches. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users.
This tap is suited for use in materials including aluminum alloy, copper, copper alloy, stainless steel, and steel. The 45-degree helix angle makes it particularly effective in stringy or tough-to-machine materials where chip evacuation is critical. It belongs to the EMUGE Enorm series, which is engineered for high-performance tapping in production and job shop environments. The 2B class of fit produces threads within standard tolerance for general-purpose fastener assemblies. Right-hand thread direction is consistent with standard UNC fastener specifications.
Designed for tapping 7/16-14 UNC threads in aluminum alloy, copper, copper alloy, stainless steel, and steel workpieces. Compatible with standard tapping chucks and holders accepting a 0.323-inch shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with tapping operations and machine setup. Power down or de-energize the machine before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or tapping compound for the workpiece material to protect tool life and thread quality. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are set to the tap manufacturer recommendations for the specific material being threaded before operation.
