The EMUGE CU501010.5013 is a spiral flute tap designed for blind hole threading in metal workpieces. It cuts a 1/2-13 UNC right-hand thread to a 3B class of fit using a modified bottoming chamfer, which allows threading closer to the bottom of a blind hole than a standard plug tap. The tap is manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish. It carries a 35-degree helix angle that pulls chips up and out of the hole during the cut - a critical advantage in blind hole applications where chip evacuation directly affects thread quality. Overall length is 4.331 inches with a thread length of 0.787 inches.
This tap is suited for production and job-shop threading of blind holes in non-ferrous metals and steel. The Enorm series targets applications that demand consistent thread form and reliable chip control across mid- to high-volume runs. A shank diameter of 0.367 inches and a square drive size of 0.275 inches make it compatible with standard tap holders and CNC tapping chucks used in machining centers, drill presses, and tapping machines. It does not require coolant-through capability, making it practical for conventional coolant delivery setups.
Designed for blind hole threading in non-ferrous metal and steel workpieces requiring a 1/2-13 UNC, 3B class of fit thread. Fits standard tap holders with a 0.367-inch shank diameter and a 0.275-inch square drive.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the machine spindle is aligned with the hole axis before tapping. Use an appropriate cutting fluid or tapping compound for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve thread finish. When programming CNC tapping cycles, verify that spindle speed and feed rate match the tap manufacturer's recommendations for the specific workpiece material and tap size.
