The EMUGE CU306001.5046 is a spiral flute tap engineered for through-hole threading in titanium and other difficult-to-machine materials. Part of the Rekord C-Ti series, it features a 3-flute, left-hand spiral flute design with a slow helix angle of 15 degrees that efficiently evacuates chips upward and out of the hole during tapping. The tap is manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a nitride coating to extend tool life and reduce friction in demanding applications. With a 2BX class of fit, it produces threads to tight tolerance standards required in aerospace and precision machining environments. Licensed machinists and tooling specialists are the primary installers of this tap.
This tap is sized for 7/16-20 UNF threads and is designed for through-hole threading operations on titanium workpieces, where chip control and tool durability are critical. The plug chamfer style makes it suited for threading holes that have clearance at the bottom, allowing the tap to begin cutting progressively. It is commonly used in CNC machining centers, manual mills, and drill presses where rigid tapping or floating tap holders are employed. The Rekord C-Ti series designation indicates it is optimized specifically for titanium alloys and similarly tough non-ferrous materials.
Designed for through-hole threading in titanium alloys as a primary material application. Suited for use with standard 7/16-20 UNF tap holders and rigid or floating tapping attachments in machining center and manual machine tool setups.
This tap should be installed by qualified machinists familiar with tapping operations in titanium and hard alloys. Always ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the spindle speed is set to values appropriate for cobalt tooling in titanium before beginning the threading cycle. Coolant-through is not supported on this tap, so external cutting fluid application to the tap and workpiece is recommended to manage heat. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use, as titanium work-hardens rapidly and can accelerate tool degradation.
