The EMUGE BU513500.5001 is a spiral flute tap designed for threading 2-56 UNC bottoming applications in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from cobalt high-speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, it features a 45-degree helix angle and fast flute style that evacuates chips upward, making it well-suited for blind-hole tapping where chip clearance is critical. The bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of a hole. Overall length is 1.772 inches, thread length is 0.177 inches, and tapping depth reaches 0.472 inches. Part of the Enorm Z series, this tap is manufactured for precision threading in demanding material applications.
This tap is used in machining environments where small-diameter, fine-pitch threads are required in blind holes. Its cobalt construction makes it appropriate for harder and more abrasive materials including stainless steel, titanium alloy, nickel alloy, heat-treated steel, tool steel, and structural steel. It is also rated for aluminum alloy, free-cutting steel, high-alloy steel castings, steel castings, acid-resistant steel, and nickel. Typical install scenarios include precision machining shops, aerospace component manufacturing, and industrial fabrication where 2-56 UNC threads are specified.
Designed for 2-56 UNC tapping applications across a broad range of materials including acid-resistant steel, aluminum alloy, free-cutting steel, heat-treated material, heat-treated steel, high-alloy steel castings, nickel, nickel alloy, stainless steel, steel castings, structural steel, titanium alloy, and tool steel.
This tap is installed by a machinist using standard tapping equipment sized for 2-56 UNC. Always use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material, particularly when tapping stainless steel, titanium, or nickel alloys. Ensure the tap is properly aligned to avoid deflection in small-diameter threads. Verify the pre-drilled hole depth provides adequate clearance beyond the tapping depth before beginning the operation.
