The EMUGE BU50C460.5005 is a spiral flute tap designed to cut 6-32 UNC internal left-hand threads in low tensile strength materials. Built from High Speed Steel-E with a GLT-1 finish, this tap delivers consistent thread form in blind-hole applications where chip evacuation is critical. The 45-degree helix angle drives chips up and out of the hole during cutting. With a 3B class of fit and a 2-3 pitch chamfer, it produces threads suitable for close-tolerance fastener assemblies. This tap is part of the EMUGE Enorm Z series and is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in precision manufacturing environments.
This tap is suited for threading 6-32 UNC holes in materials with low tensile strength, such as aluminum, soft plastics, and similar workpiece materials. The left-hand flute and left-hand thread configuration make it the correct choice when a reverse-rotation threading operation is required or when the finished assembly calls for left-hand fasteners. The spiral flute geometry assists chip flow in blind-hole setups, reducing the risk of tap breakage from chip packing. It is used in CNC tapping cycles and manual tapping operations on milling machines and drill presses.
Designed for threading 6-32 UNC left-hand blind holes in low tensile strength materials as part of the EMUGE Enorm Z series. Consult machine and toolholder specifications to confirm shank compatibility before use.
This tap is installed and operated by machinists using CNC machining centers, knee mills, or drill presses equipped with a tapping head or rigid tapping cycle. Power down or lock out the machine spindle before changing or inspecting tooling. Use cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain thread quality. Never force a tap that has stopped rotating under load, as this tool is susceptible to breakage at small diameters.
