The EMUGE BU306001.5006 is a spiral flute tap designed for through-hole threading in titanium and other difficult-to-machine materials. It features a 3-flute, left-hand flute direction configuration with a 15-degree helix angle that evacuates chips upward out of the hole, reducing the risk of chip packing and tap breakage. Ground to an 8-32 UNC thread form with a 2BX class of fit, this plug-chamfer tap is manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel and carries a nitride coating for improved wear resistance and heat tolerance. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and precision fabricators working in aerospace, medical, and industrial environments will find this tap suited to demanding tapping operations.
The BU306001.5006 belongs to the EMUGE Rekord C-Ti series, which is engineered specifically for tapping titanium alloys. Its plug chamfer makes it appropriate for through-hole applications where the tap can pass fully through the workpiece. The 0.827-inch tapping depth, 0.512-inch thread length, and 0.168-inch shank diameter are sized for standard CNC machining centers, drill presses, and tapping arms operating on light to medium-duty workpieces in the 8-32 UNC range.
Designed for through-hole threading in titanium alloys as part of the EMUGE Rekord C-Ti series. Fits standard tapping chucks and holders accepting a 0.168-inch shank diameter with a 0.131-inch square drive.
This tap should be installed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with speeds and feeds for cobalt tooling in titanium. Always secure the workpiece and confirm proper chuck engagement before beginning the tapping cycle. Coolant-through is not supported on this tap, so adequate flood or mist coolant directed at the cutting zone is recommended when tapping titanium. Follow the machinery manufacturer and OSHA guidance for rotating tool safety during setup and operation.
