The EMUGE BU20C300.5010 is a spiral point tap designed for through-hole threading in a 5/16-18 UNC configuration. Built from HSS-E cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a GLT-1 coating, this tap is engineered for cutting right-hand threads to a 2B class of fit with an H5 thread limit. The spiral point geometry pushes chips forward through the hole rather than packing them in the flutes, making it well suited for continuous production work. With 3 flutes, a plug chamfer, and an overall length of 3.5433 inches (90 mm), it fits standard tap holders and CNC tapping chucks used in machine shop and production environments. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical trades as well as machinists use this tap for threading steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals.
This tap is intended for through-hole threading applications where chips can be advanced ahead of the cutting edge. It is appropriate for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals, making it versatile across fabrication, maintenance, and production machining scenarios. The GLT-1 coating provides lubricity and heat resistance to extend tool life in demanding materials. The plug chamfer provides a gradual lead-in, requiring 3-5 chamfer threads before full thread engagement, which is standard practice for most production tapping setups.
Designed for through-hole threading of 5/16-18 UNC threads in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. Fits tap holders and CNC tapping chucks accepting an 8.08 mm (0.3180 inch) shank diameter with a 6.05 mm square drive.
This tap is intended for use by machinists and qualified trade professionals operating drill presses, mills, or CNC machining centers. Always ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the spindle is properly aligned before tapping. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material, particularly when tapping stainless steel or cast iron, to prevent galling and premature tool wear. This tap is designed for through-holes only and should not be used as a blind-hole tap.
