The EMUGE BU20C300.5009 is a spiral point tap designed for through-hole threading in a wide range of metalworking applications. Built to a 1/4-20 UNC thread form with a plug chamfer and 2B class of fit, it produces right-hand internal threads with consistent dimensional accuracy. The tap is manufactured from HSS-E cobalt high-speed steel and carries a GLT-1 coating, which improves wear resistance and reduces friction during the cutting cycle. With 3 flutes and an H5 thread limit, it suits production environments where thread quality and tool life must both be maintained. Overall length is 3.1496 inches with a thread length of 0.6690 inches. Installation is handled by machinists and CNC setup technicians in job shop and production machining operations.
This tap is rated for through-hole threading in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. The spiral point geometry pushes chips forward ahead of the tap, making it best suited for through-hole applications rather than blind holes. It is a single-tap solution appropriate for tapping heads, CNC machining centers, and manual tapping operations where a plug chamfer start is acceptable. Coolant-through capability is not available on this tap, so external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended when machining difficult materials.
Designed for through-hole threading of 1/4-20 UNC threads in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metal workpieces. Suitable for use in tapping heads, CNC machining centers, and manual tapping setups that accept a 0.2550-inch shank diameter tool.
This tap should be installed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician familiar with thread-cutting operations. Ensure the machine spindle and workpiece are properly secured before beginning the tapping cycle. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid or tapping compound to the tool and workpiece, particularly when threading stainless steel or cast iron, as coolant-through is not supported on this tap. Do not reverse the tap under load without confirming the machine is set for proper reversal to avoid tap breakage.
