The EMUGE AW181000.5763 is a standard pipe tap designed to cut NPT (National Pipe Taper) threads in blind and through-hole applications. Built from cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers the heat and wear resistance needed when threading harder materials at production rates. The tap cuts a 1/16-27 NPT thread profile using 4 flutes with a regular hook geometry, producing clean, sealing-quality threads suited for pipe fittings, hydraulic ports, and pneumatic connections. The shank diameter measures 0.3125 inches and the thread length is 0.69 inches.
This tap is intended for use in brass, cast iron, and steel workpieces. It is appropriate for both manual tapping and machine tapping operations in job shops, maintenance environments, and production settings. The 1/16-27 NPT size is commonly found in small-port fittings, sensors, and low-flow pipe connections. The bright, uncoated finish makes it straightforward to inspect for wear and is compatible with a wide range of cutting fluids.
Designed for blind and through-hole threading in brass, cast iron, and steel workpieces requiring a 1/16-27 NPT tapered pipe thread. Fits standard tap holders and tap wrenches sized for a 0.3125-inch shank diameter.
Pipe taps are installed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians using a tap wrench or machine tap holder. Always secure the workpiece firmly and apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the material being threaded. Back the tap off periodically to break chips, particularly in blind holes. Follow shop safety practices and manufacturer cutting-parameter guidance when running this tap under power.
