The ELECTRO HARDWARE EKFS2-M2.5 is a hex head clinch captive nut designed for permanent, flush-mounting thread installation in sheet metal and thin panel assemblies. The M2.5x0.45 thread accepts standard metric fasteners and installs by pressing or clinching into a prepared mounting hole, displacing panel material to create a secure, non-rotating threaded insert. Manufactured from 18-8 stainless steel with a passivated finish, this fastener resists corrosion in demanding environments. Minimum panel thickness is 1 mm, making it suitable for light-gauge sheet applications found in electrical enclosures, HVAC equipment panels, and control boxes.
This clinch nut is appropriate for use in thin-panel assemblies where a back-side nut is not accessible or practical. Typical applications include electrical enclosure fabrication, equipment control panels, HVAC chassis assembly, and light-gauge sheet metal work. The hex body geometry prevents rotation during installation and under load. The passivated stainless steel construction makes this nut a reliable choice in environments with moisture exposure or where corrosion resistance is a priority. Sold in packages of 10.
Designed for installation in sheet metal and thin-panel assemblies with a minimum panel thickness of 1 mm and a prepared mounting hole diameter of 4.5 mm, accepting M2.5x0.45 metric threaded fasteners.
Installation is typically performed by a sheet metal fabricator or mechanical assembler using a press tool or hand-setting tool sized for the clinch nut body diameter. Always prepare the panel hole to the specified 4.5 mm mounting hole diameter before pressing to ensure proper clinch engagement. Verify that the panel material meets the 1 mm minimum thickness requirement prior to installation. Do not attempt to install by hammering, as this can distort the nut body and compromise thread integrity.
