The ELECTRO HARDWARE EKF2-M5-2-ZI is an M5x0.80 hex head clinch captive nut designed for permanent installation into sheet metal panels and enclosures. The clinch design allows the nut to be pressed or driven into a pre-drilled panel hole, creating a flush, load-bearing threaded insert without welding or secondary fasteners. The hex head geometry resists rotation once installed. Built from zinc plated steel, this fastener provides corrosion resistance suitable for indoor electrical enclosures, HVAC cabinet assemblies, and light industrial sheet metal fabrication. A minimum panel thickness of 2mm is required for proper retention. Electricians, HVAC technicians, and sheet metal fabricators install this type of hardware during panel assembly and equipment cabinet construction.
This clinch nut is suited for use in thin-panel applications including electrical enclosures, control panels, HVAC equipment cabinets, and structural sheet metal assemblies where a reliable threaded insert is required on material at or above 2mm thickness. The 6.5mm mounting hole diameter accepts standard pre-punched or drilled sheet metal panels. Sold in a package quantity of 25 per pack, making it practical for service inventory and production assembly use.
Designed as an OEM-style clinch captive nut for sheet metal panels and enclosures with a minimum material thickness of 2mm and a 6.5mm pre-drilled or punched mounting hole accepting M5x0.80 threaded fasteners.
Clinch captive nuts are installed by electricians, HVAC technicians, and sheet metal fabricators using a punch press, arbor press, or appropriate clinching tool. Ensure the panel hole diameter is 6.5mm and panel thickness meets the 2mm minimum before installation. Do not attempt to install in panels below the minimum thickness, as retention strength will be compromised. De-energize any associated electrical equipment before performing panel modifications.
