The ELECTRO HARDWARE EKF2-256 is a 2-56 round head broach captive nut designed for permanent, panel-mounted fastening applications. The broach design is pressed directly into a panel hole, where knurled or serrated features lock the nut in place without welding or secondary fasteners. Made from tin plated steel, it provides corrosion resistance suitable for sheet metal enclosures, electrical panels, and control boxes. The head diameter measures 0.219 inches, the head height is 0.065 inches, and the minimum panel thickness required for installation is 0.0599 inches. These nuts are installed by fabricators, sheet metal workers, and field technicians working on control enclosures and electronic assemblies.
This captive nut is well suited for light-gauge steel panels found in HVAC control enclosures, electrical junction boxes, and equipment mounting assemblies. The 2-56 thread size makes it appropriate for small fastener applications where a permanent, floating or fixed nut plate is needed on thin sheet metal. The broach installation method allows the nut to be installed from one side of the panel, making it practical for assemblies where rear access is limited. Each package contains 50 pieces, suitable for production runs or service stock.
Designed as an OEM-style captive fastener for light-gauge steel panels requiring a permanent 2-56 threaded insert installed via broach method.
Installation is performed by pressing the broach nut into a properly sized panel hole using an arbor press or appropriate installation tooling. Power down all electrical equipment before working on any control enclosure or panel. Ensure the mounting hole diameter matches the specified 0.147 inch requirement before installation to achieve proper retention. Do not attempt to install broach nuts with a standard hammer or mallet, as uneven force can deform the nut or panel.
