The ELECTRO HARDWARE EFH-024-14 is a zinc-plated steel captive stud designed to provide a permanent, reusable threaded fastening point in sheet metal panels and enclosures. The stud is retained in the panel after installation, eliminating the need to handle loose fasteners during assembly or service. It carries a 10-24 thread and measures 7/8 inches overall length, with a head height of 0.1 inches. The C1005 to C1018 low-carbon steel construction gives it solid shear and tensile strength for light- to medium-duty panel fastening applications. This hardware is installed by sheet metal fabricators, enclosure assemblers, and field technicians working on electrical panels, HVAC equipment cabinets, and control enclosures.
The EFH-024-14 captive stud suits applications where a threaded insert must remain captive on the panel side during repeated assembly and disassembly cycles. It is appropriate for use in thin-gauge sheet metal panels with a minimum panel thickness of 0.04 inches. Typical environments include electrical control enclosures, HVAC unit access panels, and light industrial equipment housings where tool-free or quick-access fastening is required. The zinc plating provides baseline corrosion resistance suitable for indoor and protected-environment installations.
Designed as an OEM-style captive fastener for thin-gauge sheet metal panels requiring a retained 10-24 threaded stud, typical of electrical enclosures, HVAC equipment cabinets, and similar light industrial assemblies.
Captive studs are typically installed by pressing or staking into a punched or drilled panel hole using a press tool or appropriate installation tool rated for the stud series. Ensure the panel is de-energized and any associated equipment is powered down before servicing fasteners on live enclosures. Follow applicable NEC requirements when working inside electrical panels. Do not over-torque mating hardware, as the low-carbon steel thread can be damaged by excessive clamp load.
