The ELECTRO HARDWARE ECLSS-032-1 is a round head clinch captive nut designed for permanent installation into sheet metal panels and enclosures. The clinch design allows the nut to be pressed into a pre-drilled hole, creating a fixed threaded insert that stays captive in the panel without adhesives or welding. Manufactured from 18-8 stainless steel with a passivated finish, the ECLSS-032-1 resists corrosion in demanding environments. The 10-32 thread size makes it a standard choice for electrical enclosures, control panels, and equipment assemblies where a reliable threaded attachment point is needed in thin-gauge material.
This clinch captive nut is used in light-gauge sheet metal fabrication, electrical panel assembly, HVAC equipment enclosures, and industrial control cabinet construction. The minimum panel thickness requirement of 0.0399 inches makes it suitable for thin sheet metal applications where a tapped hole alone would not provide adequate thread engagement. Installation is typically performed during fabrication or assembly of the host panel before final system build-out.
Designed for installation into thin-gauge sheet metal panels with a minimum thickness of 0.0399 inches and a pre-drilled mounting hole diameter of 0.25 inches, typical of electrical enclosures, control panels, and HVAC equipment housings requiring a permanent threaded insert.
Clinch captive nuts are installed by fabricators or assembly technicians using a press tool or arbor press to seat the nut flush into the pre-drilled panel hole. Verify panel material and thickness meet the minimum requirement before installation to ensure proper clinch engagement. De-energize and isolate any electrical enclosure fully before adding or replacing fastener hardware inside a live panel. Follow applicable NEC guidelines when working inside electrical enclosures.
