The ECM INDUSTRIES LLC GST-55M is a combination wire stripper and non-contact AC voltage detector designed for electrical service work across residential and light commercial applications. The tool strips 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18 gauge solid and stranded wire and integrates a non-contact AC voltage detection sensor directly into the handle, eliminating the need to carry a separate tester. Stainless steel blades resist corrosion for long service life, and the high-impact handles are built to withstand jobsite conditions. The GST-55M also cuts and rethreads bolt sizes 6-32, 8-32, and 10-32. Replaceable batteries are included. UL Listed.
This tool is suited for electricians, HVAC technicians, and other trades professionals who work with low-voltage and line-voltage wiring daily. The built-in voltage detection function is particularly useful during panel work, outlet servicing, and control board wiring where confirming a dead circuit before stripping is standard practice. The multi-gauge stripping capacity covering 10 through 18 AWG covers the range commonly encountered in residential branch circuits and HVAC low-voltage control wiring. Packaged carded, it is sold in a package quantity of four units per order.
The GST-55M is a direct replacement for True Value 356-824 and True Value 568-215. Designed for use with 10 through 18 AWG solid and stranded copper wire in standard residential and commercial wiring applications.
This tool is intended for use by qualified electricians and trained trades professionals familiar with electrical safety procedures. Always verify a circuit is de-energized using the built-in voltage detector and a secondary means of verification before performing any wiring work, in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) requirements. Replace batteries as needed to ensure reliable voltage detection function. Do not use the voltage detection feature as the sole means of lockout-tagout verification on high-energy circuits.
