The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL MT-180-150-B-I is an M18.0x1.50 high-speed steel (HSS) metric bottom tap designed for threading operations that require cutting threads to the bottom of a blind hole. With an 18 mm major diameter and a 1.50 mm pitch, this tap produces fine-metric threads in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials. The bottom tap profile allows threading closer to the floor of a blind hole than taper or plug taps allow. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and tool-and-die professionals use this tap in manual tapping operations and low-speed machine tapping applications.
This tap is suited for general metalworking and maintenance-repair-operations (MRO) environments where metric fine-thread holes are required. Typical applications include threading bolt holes in machinery frames, fixtures, and fabricated steel assemblies. The M18.0x1.50 thread form follows ISO metric standards, making it appropriate for use where standard coarse-pitch M18x2.50 threads are not specified and a finer pitch is required for load distribution or vibration resistance.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use metric bottom tap suitable for M18.0x1.50 tapping applications in standard tap wrenches and compatible machine tap holders.
This tap should be installed using a properly sized tap wrench or tapping fixture aligned perpendicular to the workpiece surface. Cutting fluid or tapping lubricant appropriate to the workpiece material should be applied before and during the tapping operation to reduce heat and extend tool life. Back the tap out periodically to clear chips, especially in deeper blind holes. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and ensure the workpiece is securely clamped before beginning any threading operation.
