The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL MT-160-150-B-I is an M16.0x1.50 high-speed steel (HSS) metric bottom tap designed for threading operations that require full thread depth to the bottom of a blind hole. With a 16 mm major diameter and 1.50 mm pitch, this tap handles medium-coarse metric threading in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It is used by machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians working in production shops, field fabrication, and MRO environments. The import-grade construction provides a cost-effective option for general threading tasks where high-volume tooling consumption is expected.
This bottom tap is suited for blind hole applications in metal fabrication, equipment repair, and general manufacturing. A bottom tap has minimal taper on the lead threads, allowing threading to continue closer to the base of a blind hole than a taper or plug tap allows. It is typically used as the final tap in a three-tap sequence after a taper tap and plug tap have been run first, though it can be used alone in through-holes or when hole prep has already been established.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use metric bottom tap compatible with standard M16.0x1.50 tapping applications in manual tap handles, T-handle wrenches, and CNC tapping chucks sized for the corresponding tap shank diameter.
Bottom taps should be used by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians following proper tapping procedures. Always ensure the workpiece is securely clamped and the tap is aligned perpendicular to the hole before beginning threading. Use a suitable cutting fluid or tapping compound appropriate for the workpiece material to reduce tool wear and improve thread finish. Back off periodically to break chips, and never force a tap against resistance, as HSS taps are brittle and susceptible to breakage under torsional overload.
