The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL HT-4375-14-P-D is a 7/16-14 high-speed steel (HSS) hand plug tap manufactured in the USA. A plug tap features a tapered lead of 3 to 5 threads, making it the standard starting choice for most hand-tapping operations in through holes and sufficiently deep blind holes. This tap cuts unified coarse (UNC) internal threads at 7/16 inch diameter and 14 threads per inch. It is a hand-operated tool driven by a tap wrench and is a staple in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and field service work wherever threaded holes need to be cut or restored in metal workpieces.
This tap is suited for general-purpose threading in ferrous and non-ferrous metals including mild steel, aluminum, brass, and cast iron. It is commonly used by machinists, millwrights, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and maintenance mechanics for repair work, new fabrication, and field threading tasks. The 7/16-14 UNC thread form is a widely specified fastener size across industrial, mechanical, and structural applications.
Designed as a standard hand plug tap for cutting 7/16-14 UNC internal threads in metal workpieces using a compatible tap wrench.
This tap is a hand-cutting tool and should be driven with a properly sized tap wrench. Secure the workpiece firmly before tapping and apply cutting oil or tapping fluid to extend tool life and improve thread finish. Advance the tap in short increments and periodically reverse to break chips and prevent binding. Forcing a tap beyond its capacity will result in breakage — use the correct tap drill size for 7/16-14 threads prior to tapping.
