The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL CHD-5000-13-I is a carbon steel hex rethread die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads on fasteners and threaded rod. It cuts a 1/2-13 NC (National Coarse) thread profile and is shaped in the standard hex format so it seats directly in a standard die stock or wrench without additional adapters. Plumbers, pipefitters, HVAC technicians, and electricians keep this type of die on hand for field repairs where replacing a fully threaded component is impractical. The hex body provides secure grip and positive torque transfer during use.
This rethread die is suited for repair work on 1/2-13 NC threaded bolts, studs, and rod in both residential and light commercial maintenance settings. Typical applications include restoring threads on conduit fittings, pipe hangers, equipment mounting hardware, and structural fasteners that have been cross-threaded, corroded, or mechanically damaged. It is an import-grade tool appropriate for general maintenance use rather than high-cycle production threading operations.
Designed for use with standard hex die stocks that accept 1/2-13 NC dies; suitable for rethreading mild steel, aluminum, and similarly soft threaded fasteners in general maintenance applications.
A licensed mechanic, pipefitter, or electrician performing fastener repair should secure the workpiece firmly before threading to prevent movement. Apply cutting oil to the die and fastener before use to reduce friction and extend tool life. Start the die squarely on the fastener to avoid cross-threading. Always inspect the repaired thread with a mating nut before returning the fastener to service.
