The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL CHD-37500-12-I is a carbon hex rethread die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads to their original profile. Built in a hex body configuration, it fits standard hex die stocks and handheld wrenches, making it practical for field and shop use. This die cuts a 3-3/4 inch nominal diameter thread at 12 threads per inch (TPI), a size commonly found on large-diameter fasteners, industrial shafting, and heavy mechanical assemblies. Plumbers, pipefitters, millwrights, and maintenance mechanics reach for rethread dies when bolt or rod threads are too damaged to accept a nut cleanly but the fastener itself does not need full replacement.
This rethread die is suited for heavy industrial, commercial mechanical, and maintenance-repair-operations (MRO) environments where large-diameter threaded components are serviced in place. Typical applications include restoring threads on large studs, tie rods, hydraulic cylinder rods, and structural bolting. The hex body allows high torque input from a standard wrench or die stock without slipping, which matters at this diameter where cutting resistance is significant.
Designed for use on external threads with a 3-3/4 inch nominal diameter and 12 TPI thread pitch. Fits standard hex die stocks sized for the CHD-37500-12-I hex body dimensions. Intended for use on mild steel and comparable ferrous fasteners and threaded rod.
A licensed mechanic, pipefitter, or qualified maintenance technician should perform thread restoration on load-bearing or pressure-rated fasteners. Before use, clean the damaged thread area of debris, rust, and grease, and apply a suitable cutting oil to reduce friction and extend die life. Start the die straight onto the thread axis to avoid cross-threading, and back off periodically to break chips. Do not use this die to cut threads from unthreaded stock — it is a rethread tool, not a full-form threading die.
