The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL CHD-3750-24-I is a carbon steel hex rethread die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads to their original profile. Built in a standard hex body format, it fits common die stocks and tap wrenches for quick field or shop use. This die cuts a 3/8-24 NF (National Fine) thread form, making it the right tool for restoring fine-pitch fasteners on equipment, fittings, and threaded rod encountered in HVAC, plumbing, and general mechanical service work. Technicians and mechanics reach for rethread dies when a fastener or threaded stub has been cross-threaded, rusted, or otherwise damaged and replacement is not practical.
This die is suited for use on threaded fasteners and fittings in residential and light commercial maintenance applications. The 3/8-24 NF specification targets fine-thread fasteners common in mechanical assemblies, valve stems, and equipment hardware. It is a standard import-grade tooling option appropriate for occasional rethread work in a service technician's toolkit or a shop environment where high-volume production tooling is not required.
Designed as a standard hex rethread die for use on 3/8-24 NF externally threaded fasteners and fittings. Fits die stocks and wrenches sized for standard hex dies of this thread range.
Rethread dies are used by HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, and general mechanics during equipment service and repair. Before use, clean loose rust, paint, or debris from the damaged thread area to reduce loading on the die. Apply cutting oil to the die and workpiece to extend tool life and improve thread finish. Never force a die onto a badly deformed thread in a single pass; make multiple light passes where thread damage is severe.
