The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL CHD-32500-4-I is a carbon hex rethread die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads on fasteners, pipe fittings, and threaded rod. Built in a standard hex shape for use with a die stock or adjustable wrench, this die cuts a 3-1/4 inch diameter thread at 4 threads per inch (TPI). It is a practical hand tool kept on service trucks and in shop toolboxes by plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors who encounter field-damaged threads on a regular basis. At 9.35 pounds, this is a solid, full-size die suited for heavy-duty rethreading work.
This rethread die is used wherever large-diameter external threads need to be cleaned up or re-cut without full thread replacement. Typical applications include rethreading damaged pipe nipples, heavy fasteners, and threaded rod in industrial, commercial plumbing, and mechanical systems. The 3-1/4 inch by 4 TPI specification matches coarse thread standards commonly found in large-diameter pipe and structural fastener applications. Plumbers, pipefitters, and millwrights are the primary installers of this tool.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard hex rethread die compatible with die stocks and holders sized for large-diameter hex dies in the 3-1/4 inch thread range.
This die is installed and operated by plumbers, pipefitters, or mechanical technicians using a properly sized die stock or wrench. Before rethreading, de-energize or depressurize any system the threaded component is part of and clean the damaged thread area of debris, rust, and scale. Apply cutting oil liberally during use to extend die life and produce a clean thread form. Do not force the die over severely deformed threads in a single pass — make multiple light passes to avoid die damage.
