The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL CHD-18750-8-I is a carbon hex rethread die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads on fasteners, pipe fittings, and threaded rod. Built to a 1-7/8 inch diameter with 8 threads per inch (TPI), this die fits standard hex die stocks and is suited for field or shop use. The carbon steel construction provides adequate hardness for rethreading mild steel, iron, and similar materials. Plumbers, pipefitters, and general maintenance trades reach for this type of tool when a threaded connection needs to be cleaned up without full replacement of the fastener or fitting.
This rethread die is appropriate for maintenance and repair work on coarse-threaded fasteners and fittings in plumbing, mechanical, and light industrial applications. The hex body seats securely in a matching die stock, allowing controlled thread restoration in tight or awkward installations. It is well suited to job-site repair scenarios where a damaged thread needs to be chased back to specification before reassembly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit rethread die for use with hex die stocks accepting a 1-7/8 inch hex die body.
This die is installed by a machinist, pipefitter, plumber, or experienced maintenance technician using a compatible hex die stock. Secure the workpiece before engaging the die, and apply cutting oil to reduce heat and extend die life. Inspect the die for chips or damage before each use, and never force a die onto a badly deformed thread without first dressing the thread lead with a file.
