The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL A712-101-I is a 1-inch high-speed steel (HSS) aircraft-extension drill bit with a 12-inch overall length (OAL). Designed for deep-reach drilling applications, this bit provides the extended reach required when standard-length bits cannot access the work area. HSS construction delivers the hardness and heat resistance needed for drilling through aluminum, mild steel, and other common aerospace and structural materials. Licensed tradespeople and aircraft maintenance technicians rely on this type of extended bit for drilling through structural assemblies, ribs, and bulkheads where clearance is limited.
This drill bit is suited for use in aircraft assembly, sheet metal fabrication, and general industrial applications that require extended reach. The 12-inch OAL allows drilling into deep cavities or through stacked material where a standard-length bit would bottom out before completing the hole. It is also used in construction and electrical rough-in work when drilling through deep framing members or structural panels. Minimum order quantity is 1 unit.
Designed as an extended-reach HSS drill bit compatible with standard 1-inch drill chucks and heavy-duty drill presses or magnetic drills used in aircraft maintenance, fabrication, and industrial applications.
This bit is installed by a machinist, aircraft maintenance technician, or journeyman tradesperson using a drill press, magnetic drill, or heavy-duty handheld drill with a compatible chuck. Secure the bit fully in the chuck before operation and confirm the workpiece is clamped or otherwise fixed before drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling ferrous metals to extend bit life and reduce heat. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and wear eye protection at all times during use.
