The E-Z LOK 650-16 is a standard wall thread locking insert designed to create a secure, load-bearing internal thread in materials that cannot hold a thread reliably on their own. The insert features an M16 x 2.00 internal thread and a 1-8 external thread, giving it cross-standard utility across metric and unified thread applications. Manufactured from C12L14 carbon steel with a smooth, rolled finish, it measures 0.781 inches in overall length. Licensed tradespeople, maintenance mechanics, and industrial assemblers use this insert to restore or establish durable internal threads in metal components subject to vibration or repeated fastener removal.
This insert is suited for applications requiring a Metric Coarse or Metric Fine internal thread standard in a standard wall configuration. It installs into a pre-tapped 1-8 external thread hole, locking in place to resist rotation under load. Typical use cases include repair of stripped threaded bores and original-equipment installations in ferrous metal assemblies where long-term thread integrity is critical. The 2B internal thread class of fit and 2A external thread class of fit meet standard tolerance requirements for general mechanical fastening.
Designed for use with standard 1-8 tap-prepared host bores in ferrous metal assemblies requiring an M16 x 2.00 internal thread. Compatible with both Metric Coarse and Metric Fine thread standards. Requires a standard tap type for host-material preparation.
Installation is typically performed by a machinist or maintenance mechanic using the appropriate 1-8 tap to prepare the host bore before driving the insert. Ensure the workpiece is secured and de-energized or depressurized before beginning thread repair on any live system. Use the manufacturer-recommended installation tool to drive the insert to full depth without damaging the internal thread form. Verify thread engagement with a go/no-go gauge after installation to confirm proper class of fit.
