The DYNABRADE 59040 is a palm-style air-powered random orbital sander built for production finishing work in automotive, woodworking, and general fabrication environments. Driven by compressed air at 90 psi through a 1/4 NPT inlet, it delivers 12,000 orbits per minute from a 0.25 HP motor. The 6-inch round urethane weight-mated sanding pad provides consistent surface contact across the full pad diameter. Requiring 14 CFM of air flow, this tool is suited for shops with adequate compressor capacity. A minimum hose size of 0.25 inches is required for proper air delivery. The 59040 is used in surface preparation and finish sanding applications where a 6-inch random orbital action is needed to minimize swirl marks and achieve a uniform scratch pattern. The 3/32-inch (2 mm) orbit diameter makes it suitable for both material removal and final finish passes on flat and moderately contoured surfaces. It is commonly deployed in automotive body shops, furniture manufacturing, and metal fabrication facilities. At 1.4 pounds, the tool is light enough for extended overhead or vertical surface work without excessive fatigue.

A licensed or experienced pneumatic tool technician should connect this sander to a properly sized air supply line meeting the 14 CFM and 90 psi requirements. Shut off the air supply and bleed the line before changing the sanding pad or performing any maintenance. Ensure the 1/4 NPT inlet fitting is properly threaded and sealed with appropriate thread sealant before operation. Use an inline air filter-regulator-lubricator to maintain consistent pressure and extend tool service life.
