The DURA PLASTIC PVC40BUSHSPFIP32 is a Schedule 40 PVC reducing bushing used to transition from a 3-inch spigot connection to a 2-inch female iron pipe thread (FIPT) fitting. This bushing is designed for pressure piping systems and allows technicians to reduce pipe size within a run without cutting into existing fittings or adding extra couplings. It is a standard component in potable water distribution, irrigation, pool and spa plumbing, and industrial pressure lines. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this bushing as part of new construction and retrofit projects where a pipe diameter reduction is required at a threaded female port.
This reducing bushing is suited for residential and light commercial pressure piping applications. The 3-inch spigot end inserts directly into a socket-end fitting or valve body, while the 2-inch FIPT end accepts a male-threaded pipe or fitting. Common install scenarios include pool equipment manifolds, irrigation control valve assemblies, and potable water service lines where a step-down in pipe diameter is needed at a threaded connection point.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit component for Schedule 40 PVC pressure piping systems using 3-inch spigot and 2-inch FIPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing any existing fittings. The spigot end is solvent-welded using PVC primer and cement rated for Schedule 40 pressure fittings. Apply thread sealant tape or compound to the male fitting threads before engaging the FIPT connection, and do not overtighten threaded joints to avoid cracking the fitting body.
