The DURA PLASTIC PVC40BUSHSPFIP2112 is a Schedule 40 PVC reducing bushing designed to transition a 2-inch spigot connection to a 1-1/2-inch female iron pipe thread (FIPT) fitting. This bushing inserts directly into a socket-end fitting, allowing a threaded female port to accept a smaller male-threaded component. Built from rigid PVC to Schedule 40 pressure-rating standards, it handles typical residential and light commercial water distribution, irrigation, and pool or spa plumbing where a concentric size reduction is needed at a threaded junction. Plumbers and pool service technicians are the primary installers.
This fitting is suited for cold and ambient-temperature water service in pressure piping systems where Schedule 40 PVC is code-acceptable. Common applications include pool equipment pads, irrigation manifolds, potable water distribution laterals, and spa plumbing assemblies. The spigot end slips into any standard Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 socket fitting of the same nominal bore, while the FIPT port accepts a 1-1/2-inch male NPT-threaded component such as a valve, gauge, or pump port.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-use fitting for Schedule 40 PVC pressure piping systems requiring a 2-inch spigot to 1-1/2-inch FIPT transition.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pool and irrigation technicians. Shut off system pressure and drain the affected line before beginning work. The spigot end is solvent-welded into the receiving socket using PVC primer and solvent cement rated for Schedule 40 pressure fittings per manufacturer and applicable IPC or IFGC guidelines. Apply PTFE tape or thread sealant to the male NPT component threading into the FIPT port; do not over-torque threaded connections on PVC.
