The DURA PLASTIC PVC40BUSHSPFIP11212 is a Schedule 40 PVC reducing bushing designed for pressure piping systems. It features a 1-1/2 inch spigot inlet and a 1/2 inch female iron pipe thread (FIPT) outlet, allowing technicians to step down pipe size within a run while maintaining pressure integrity. Schedule 40 PVC construction offers reliable chemical resistance and durability in both above-ground and below-grade installations. Plumbers and irrigation technicians commonly use this fitting when transitioning between different pipe diameters in residential and light commercial water distribution systems.
This bushing is suited for cold and ambient-temperature water supply lines, pool and spa plumbing, irrigation distribution manifolds, and other low-to-moderate pressure water service applications where a spigot-to-FIPT reduction is needed. The spigot end inserts directly into a Schedule 40 socket fitting, while the FIPT end accepts a standard threaded male adapter or valve stem. It is installed in-line wherever a 1-1/2 inch line must transition to a 1/2 inch threaded connection point.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting for Schedule 40 PVC pressure piping systems using spigot and female iron pipe thread connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing codes. Shut off and depressurize the water supply line before beginning any fitting work. Apply PVC primer and solvent cement to the spigot end per manufacturer instructions and ASTM standards before joining to the socket fitting. Use PTFE thread tape on the FIPT threads when connecting a threaded male fitting to ensure a leak-free seal.
