The DURA PLASTIC PVC40BUSHSPFIP1121 is a Schedule 40 PVC reducing bushing designed to transition from a 1.5-inch spigot inlet to a 1-inch female iron pipe thread (FIPT) outlet. This fitting is built for pressure-rated applications in potable water, irrigation, and general fluid-handling systems. The spigot end inserts directly into a socket fitting, while the FIPT end accepts a male-threaded pipe or fitting. Plumbers and pipefitters use this bushing to reduce line size at threaded connections without adding extra fittings to the run. Schedule 40 construction provides consistent wall thickness and pressure performance across common system operating ranges.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, irrigation manifolds, pool and spa plumbing, and industrial fluid distribution where a size reduction from 1.5-inch to 1-inch is required at a threaded junction. It is installed wherever a spigot-to-female-thread reduction is needed in a PVC pressure system, including pump outlets, filter headers, and valve stations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard component for Schedule 40 PVC pressure piping systems using 1.5-inch socket fittings and 1-inch male NPT threaded connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters working on PVC pressure systems. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before cutting into any existing line. Apply PVC primer and solvent cement to the spigot end per the cement manufacturer instructions and applicable plumbing code, including IPC requirements for solvent-welded joints. Do not apply heat or use metal pipe wrenches directly on PVC threaded connections, as over-torquing the FIPT joint can crack the fitting.
