The DURA PLASTIC 838-211 is a Schedule 80 PVC reducer bushing with a spigot by female NPT (FNPT) end configuration. It transitions from a 1.5-inch nominal pipe size down to a 1-inch nominal female threaded connection. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides extra pressure-rated strength compared to Schedule 40, making it suitable for demanding fluid-handling systems. This fitting is domestically produced and intended for installation by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on industrial, commercial, or pool and spa piping systems.
This reducer bushing is used wherever a piping run requires a step-down from 1.5-inch to 1-inch pipe while switching from a solvent-weld spigot to a threaded female port. Common applications include chemical feed lines, water treatment systems, pool and spa equipment connections, and industrial process piping. The PVC construction makes it well suited for corrosive fluid service where metal fittings are not appropriate.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using 1.5-inch spigot and 1-inch female NPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off and depressurize the system completely before cutting into any existing piping. Use appropriate PVC primer and solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 fittings on the spigot end, and apply thread sealant tape or compound rated for PVC on the FNPT end. Do not over-torque threaded connections, as PVC threads can crack under excessive force.
