The DUMONT MINUTE MAN 44414 is a Style F-1 keyway broach designed for cutting 22 mm wide keyways in metal workpieces. Manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with an uncoated finish, this broach handles cutting lengths from 1 to 6 inches and delivers consistent keyway geometry across the full cut range. The body width measures 1 inch, and the overall length is 20.25 inches. Four shims are required for proper setup and incremental depth advancement. This broach is used by machinists and toolroom professionals performing precision keyseating operations on hubs, gears, sprockets, and bores.
This broach is suited for press-type keyseating operations in job shops, maintenance facilities, and production toolrooms. It targets workpieces requiring a 22 mm wide by 14 mm high keyway slot. The broach accommodates a minimum cutting length of 1 inch and a maximum cutting length of 6 inches, making it adaptable to a range of hub depths. A push force of 9,400 pounds is required during the cut. Standard millimeter key size compatibility is 22x14. Four shims are included or required to achieve full keyway depth in staged passes.
Compatible with workpieces requiring a standard 22x14 mm metric key size. Designed for use with keyseating presses capable of applying a minimum push force of 9,400 pounds. Broach body width of 1 inch must be matched to the appropriate bushing or guide for accurate alignment.
This broach is installed and operated by machinists using a keyseating press or arbor press rated for the required push force. Secure the workpiece firmly in the press fixture and verify the guide bushing matches the broach body width before beginning the cut. Advance depth incrementally using the four required shims, removing the broach between each pass to clear chips and inspect the slot. Never exceed the rated cutting length or apply lateral force to the broach during the stroke.
