The DRILL ROD TOOL STEELS 860199 is an O1 oil-hardening tool steel flat stock bar used in toolmaking, die making, and precision machining applications. Manufactured to AISI Type O1 material specification, this flat stock measures 3/64 inches thick, 3-1/2 inches wide, and 36 inches long, with a weight of 1.69 pounds per piece. The O1 grade is a general-purpose oil-hardening tool steel known for its dimensional stability during heat treatment and its ease of machining in the annealed state. Machinists, tool and die makers, and metalworking shops rely on this stock for fabricating punches, dies, gauges, and similar precision components.
This flat stock is suited for use in machine shops, tool rooms, and fabrication facilities requiring close-tolerance raw material for custom tooling. The 36-inch length provides workable stock for most standard tooling blanks, and the 3-1/2-inch width accommodates a range of die plate and fixture plate applications. It is supplied in the annealed condition, ready for machining prior to heat treatment. The tight thickness tolerance of plus or minus 0.001 inches makes it appropriate for applications where dimensional accuracy in the pre-machined blank is critical.
Designed as a standard O1 oil-hardening tool steel flat stock suitable for general toolmaking, die making, and precision machining applications requiring AISI Type O1 material specification.
Cutting, grinding, and machining should be performed by qualified machinists or tool and die makers using appropriate metalworking equipment. O1 tool steel should be heat treated by a qualified heat treater following established oil-quench procedures appropriate to the cross-section size. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment when cutting or grinding tool steel stock. Consult material safety data and applicable shop safety codes before beginning any cutting or heat treatment operation.
