The DORMAKABA r8148b-26d-41 is a Simplex mechanical pushbutton mortise lock with integrated deadbolt, designed for commercial door hardware applications. This lock operates without batteries or electronics — the pushbutton combination mechanism is fully mechanical, eliminating power dependency at the door. A key override cylinder accommodates Small Format Interchangeable Core (SFIC) cylinders in Best and equivalent configurations (6 or 7-pin lengths). The core is sold separately and must be sourced to match the facility keying system. Installation is performed by licensed locksmiths or commercial door hardware specialists.
This lock is suited for commercial and institutional environments where access control at interior or secured doors is required without reliance on electronic systems. Typical applications include offices, storage rooms, stairwells, and utility areas where a combination-entry deadbolt provides reliable standalone security. The SFIC key override allows master-key integration into existing Best-compatible keying systems, making it appropriate for facilities already operating Best 6 or 7-pin core infrastructure. Core is not included and must be ordered separately.
