The DORIAN TOOL 73310195493 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance material removal in demanding cutting applications. Featuring a triangular shape with a 45-degree included angle and a PVD coating applied over grade DMP35UM carbide substrate, this insert is built for cutting superalloys, titanium, and stainless steel where heat resistance and edge integrity are critical. It carries a positive rake geometry and a neutral hand orientation, making it suitable for a range of milling toolholder setups. The TDEX series insert is secured via screw-clamping and is intended for use by machinists and tooling technicians working in precision machining environments.
This insert is primarily applied in milling operations targeting superalloys and stainless steel, materials classified under ISO material codes S and M. Typical use cases include face milling, shoulder milling, and high-temperature alloy part production in aerospace, medical, and industrial manufacturing settings. The DMP chip breaker geometry is configured for these tough-to-machine materials, helping manage chip formation and reduce cutting forces. This is a single-sided insert, meaning it is indexed and replaced rather than flipped.
Designed as a replacement-style milling insert for TDEX-series milling cutter bodies accepting inserts with ANSI and ISO designation TDEX-090202-XDEN-DMP35UM and an inscribed circle of 0.3740 inches.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians using the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the screw-clamped insert into a compatible TDEX toolholder pocket. The machine spindle must be fully powered down and locked out before replacing any insert. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating the new insert. Do not exceed the torque specification listed in the toolholder manufacturer documentation for the clamping screw.
