The DORIAN TOOL 73310155030 is a right-hand S-MCLN indexable boring bar designed for precision internal boring operations on metalworking lathes and machining centers. Built from steel with a 2-inch shank diameter and a 16-inch overall length, this bar accepts CNM 543-series diamond-shaped inserts secured by a pin-and-clamp holding method. The minimum bore diameter is 2.562 inches, making it suited for medium-to-large bore work. The negative rake geometry at -7 degrees and a 5-degree lead angle promote stable cutting action and controlled chip formation in demanding applications. Machinists and toolroom professionals install and operate this bar as part of a rigid, qualified boring setup.
This boring bar is used in production and job-shop environments where accurate internal diameter finishing or roughing is required. The S-MCLN toolholder style is a standard configuration found on turrets, boring mills, and engine lathes equipped to accept 2-inch round-shank tooling. The 16-inch overall length provides reach for deeper bore applications. The center-to-cutting-edge dimension of 1.281 inches governs positioning in the tool block. Compatible CNM 543 inserts have a 5/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/4-inch insert thickness. Coolant-through capability is not featured on this bar.
Designed for use with CNM 543-series indexable inserts featuring a 5/8-inch inscribed circle, 1/4-inch thickness, and diamond insert shape. Toolholder style is S-MCLN with a 2-inch round shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped before mounting or adjusting the boring bar. The shank must be clamped securely in a properly sized boring bar holder or turret block with adequate overhang minimized to reduce vibration. Insert indexing or replacement requires removing the pin-and-clamp retaining hardware using appropriate tooling per the insert manufacturer's instructions. Verify bore centerline alignment before engaging a cut.
