The DORIAN TOOL 73310125312 is a standard knurl wheel designed for form knurling operations on manual and CNC lathes. Built from cobalt with a titanium nitride (TiN) finish, this wheel delivers consistent, repeatable knurl patterns with extended tool life in production and job-shop environments. It runs a straight tooth pattern at 20 TPI (circular pitch system), a 90-degree included tooth angle, and measures 1 inch in diameter with a 0.236-inch face width. It fits a 5/16-inch (0.3125-inch) hole and belongs to the Series M knurling system. Machinists and tool room technicians install it wherever a medium-pitch straight knurl is required on shafts, handles, or grip surfaces.
This knurl wheel suits both production and prototype turning applications where a straight knurl pattern is needed on cylindrical workpieces. Typical installs include manual engine lathes and CNC turning centers equipped with knurling tool holders compatible with Series M wheels. The medium pitch (TPI 20, 1.20 mm) is well-suited for general-purpose grip knurling on steel, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. The TiN coating helps resist wear during high-cycle runs, making this wheel appropriate for shops that knurl frequently across a variety of part diameters.
Designed for use with Series M knurling tool holders that accept a 1-inch diameter, 5/16-inch bore wheel with a 0.236-inch face width in a straight tooth pattern.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists during machine setup with the lathe or turning center fully stopped and locked out per shop LOTO procedures. The wheel is mounted on the knurling tool holder arbor pin through the 5/16-inch bore and secured before any power is restored. Inspect the wheel seating and free rotation before engaging the workpiece. Follow the tool holder manufacturer guidelines for feed rate and infeed pressure, as over-forcing a form knurl wheel can damage the wheel or the workpiece.
