The DON-JO HS060PC is a 16-gauge hinge shim designed for use in door hardware installation and adjustment. This shim fits behind door hinges to correct misalignment, compensate for frame irregularities, or fine-tune door swing and clearance. Constructed from 16-gauge steel with a prime coat finish, it provides a paintable surface ready for field finishing. The prime coat allows the shim to blend with painted door frames after installation. Door hardware installers and finish carpenters reach for this part when correcting hinge-side gaps or shimming out a mortise that has been cut too deep.
The HS060PC is suited for residential and light commercial door applications where hinge alignment needs field adjustment. It is sold individually and is also available by the case in quantities of 10. The prime coat finish makes it appropriate for painted hollow metal frames and wood door frames where a finished appearance is required after installation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and field-use shim for standard residential and light commercial door hinges where mortise depth correction or hinge alignment adjustment is required.
Hinge shims are typically installed by door hardware technicians, carpenters, or locksmiths during door hanging or hardware service calls. Before shimming, confirm the door is properly supported and all hinge screws are removed from the affected leaf. Shims should be trimmed or stacked as needed to achieve proper door alignment without overloading the hinge fasteners. Follow local building codes for door hardware installation requirements in commercial applications.
