The DIXON VALVE COUPLING 2741212C is a barbed push-on hose female connector machined from brass and designed for use in fluid transfer and hose assembly applications. It features a 3/4 inch NPTF threaded end for a pressure-tight connection and a 3/4 inch barb that grips the inner wall of compatible hose without requiring additional fittings or clamps in push-on applications. At 2.55 inches in length and rated for working pressures up to 350 psi, this connector handles demanding service conditions. The temperature range spans -40 degrees F to 150 degrees F, making it suitable for both cold and moderately heated fluid systems. Plumbers, pipefitters, and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers.
This fitting is used in residential and light commercial plumbing, irrigation, pneumatic, and fluid-handling systems where a threaded pipe port must transition to a barbed hose connection. The NPTF thread standard provides a dry-seal mechanical connection that does not rely solely on sealant for pressure integrity. Its all-brass construction resists corrosion in water, air, and many non-aggressive fluid services, making it a reliable choice for water supply, compressed air lines, and similar applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for systems using 3/4 inch NPTF female threaded ports and 3/4 inch push-on or barbed hose connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any hose fitting. NPTF threads are designed for dry-seal service, but application of an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape is common practice depending on the fluid service and local code requirements. Do not overtighten; use an appropriately sized wrench and stop once the fitting is snug and leak-free under pressure test.
