The DIVERSITECH SSH6T SoftStartHome is designed for residential air conditioning systems with a capacity of up to six tons, equivalent to seventy-two thousand BTUs. This soft start device enhances the electrical efficiency during startup. It gradually increases power to minimize electrical surges and reduce the initial load on system components. This feature helps decrease mechanical strain and allows for compatibility with backup power sources.

Was a little confusing wiring but after two videos I figured it out. So far it serves its purpose,no more light dims when ac kicks on .

The Soft Start customer service is second to none! This is a very easy DIY install; anyone that knows one end of a screwdrive form the other end, has a drill, wire stripper and crimper tool can do this in 30 min or less, unless you want to pay a HVAC tech $250-$350.
