The DICO 7100922 is a black emery buffing compound formulated for heavy-cut applications on hard metals including iron and steel. Emery compounds in this cut range are used in the early stages of a polishing or surface-finishing sequence to remove deep scratches, mill scale, and surface oxidation. The black color coding indicates a coarser, more aggressive cut compared to lighter finishing compounds. Each package contains one pound of compound, suitable for bench-mounted or handheld buffing setups. This product is used by metal fabricators, machinists, welders, and trade professionals who work with steel and iron components requiring initial surface preparation before finer polishing stages.
This compound is applied in industrial, commercial, and shop environments where ferrous metal surfaces require aggressive cutting before finishing passes. Typical applications include deburring and scratch removal on structural steel components, cast iron surfaces, and fabricated ironwork. It is appropriate for use with sisal or spiral-sewn buffing wheels on bench grinders or polishing motors. It is not intended for use on soft metals such as aluminum, brass, or copper, where a non-emery compound would be more appropriate.
Designed for use on hard ferrous metals including iron and steel. Intended for use with appropriate buffing wheels mounted on bench grinders or polishing lathes during heavy-cut surface preparation stages.
Apply compound to a rotating buffing or polishing wheel by briefly contacting the bar to the moving wheel surface. Always wear appropriate eye protection and a face shield when operating buffing equipment, and secure workpieces properly to prevent movement during polishing. Ensure buffing wheels are rated for the RPM of the motor in use. Inspect wheels for wear, fraying, or imbalance before operation.
