The DEWALT DW8358 is a Type 27 zirconia alumina flap disc designed for aggressive material removal and blending on steel and stainless steel surfaces. At 4.5 inches in diameter with a 5/8-11 threaded arbor hole, it mounts directly to standard angle grinders used in fabrication, welding, and metal finishing work. The 80-grit medium-grade abrasive delivers a balance between stock removal rate and surface finish quality. A fiberglass backing plate provides rigidity and durability under load, making this disc well suited for flat grinding and weld blending applications performed by welders, fabricators, and metal trades professionals.
This flap disc is intended for use on steels and stainless steel in both residential shop and commercial fabrication environments. The Type 27 flat profile is the standard choice for surface grinding, weld seam removal, and deburring on flat or moderately contoured workpieces. It attaches via a threaded arbor hole to 4.5-inch angle grinders equipped with a 5/8-11 spindle, which is the most common configuration in trade and light industrial settings.
Designed for use with 4.5-inch angle grinders fitted with a 5/8-11 threaded spindle. Rated for material applications on steels and stainless steel.
Installation and disc changes must be performed with the grinder unplugged or the power source locked out. Confirm the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 13,300 RPM disc rating before mounting. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use and never use a damaged disc. Proper eye protection, a face shield, and appropriate PPE are required during operation in accordance with ANSI and tool manufacturer guidelines.
