The DEWALT DW8330 is a Type 29 zirconia alumina flap disc engineered for aggressive material removal and blending on metal surfaces. The conical Type 29 profile presents the abrasive at a working angle that concentrates grinding pressure, making it well suited for weld removal, surface conditioning, and edge work. Zirconia alumina abrasive grain is self-sharpening under load, which extends disc life and maintains a consistent cut rate throughout use. At 80 grit medium grade, this disc removes material efficiently while leaving a finish suitable for follow-up with a finer grit. The fiberglass backing provides rigidity and resistance to heat and moisture. Licensed electricians, fabricators, and metalworkers install and operate this disc on standard angle grinders.
The DW8330 is designed for use on steels and stainless steel in fabrication, maintenance, and structural welding applications. The 7-inch diameter and 5/8-11 threaded arbor hole fit the most common angle grinder spindle size used in professional trade settings. Typical applications include weld seam blending, rust and scale removal, surface preparation before coating, and stock removal on flat and contoured workpieces. The disc is rated for a maximum of 8,700 RPM, which aligns with standard 7-inch angle grinder operating speeds.
Compatible with angle grinders accepting a 5/8-11 threaded arbor spindle and rated for use with 7-inch discs at or above 8,700 RPM. Suitable for material removal and surface conditioning on steels and stainless steel.
Installation and operation should be performed by personnel trained in the safe use of angle grinders and abrasive discs. Verify the grinder spindle speed rating meets or exceeds the disc maximum RPM of 8,700 before mounting. Mount the disc securely to the 5/8-11 arbor using the appropriate flange and wrench, and confirm the disc guard is in place before powering the tool. Always wear appropriate PPE including eye protection, a face shield, and gloves when operating grinding equipment.
