The DE-STA-CO 810174 is a solid state proximity sensor configured for NPN output in a normally open switching configuration. It is designed for use as a position-feedback switch on pneumatic power clamp assemblies, providing a DC signal to a PLC or control system when the clamp reaches its target position. The sensor operates on DC supply voltage ranging from 4.5 to 28 volts and carries a maximum continuous current rating of 0.1 amps (100 mA). Maximum voltage drop across the output is 0.5 volts. The compact housing measures 0.93 inches long by 0.53 inches wide by 0.87 inches high, making it suitable for tight mounting envelopes typical of automated fixturing and clamping stations. Installation is performed by automation technicians and machine builders.
This sensor is intended for pneumatic power clamps equipped with the -MR option, which provides the mechanical interface required to mount and actuate this style of solid state switch. Typical applications include automated welding fixtures, assembly line clamping stations, and robotic work-holding systems where reliable clamped or unclamped position confirmation is required. The NPN normally open output is compatible with standard PLC discrete input cards configured for NPN sourcing logic. The 6.5-inch (165.1 mm) lead wire provides short-run connectivity directly to a junction box or cordset connector at the clamp body.
Designed for DE-STA-CO pneumatic power clamps equipped with the -MR option, which provides the required mounting and actuation interface for this solid state sensor.
Installation is typically performed by automation technicians or electricians familiar with low-voltage DC sensor wiring. De-energize and lock out the pneumatic supply and control power to the clamp circuit before removing or installing the sensor. Verify PLC input card polarity matches the NPN sinking output of this sensor before completing the wiring connection. Route and secure the lead wire away from pinch points, sharp edges, and heat sources to prevent cable damage during clamp cycling.
