The DAYTON LAMINA HJB 87 350 M2 is a solid mold die blank punch engineered for precision tooling applications in metal stamping and progressive die operations. Part of the Jektole (HJB) Series by Dayton Progress, this punch features a 0.875-inch shank diameter with a ball lock retention system for secure, repeatable seating in die sets. Manufactured from M2 grade high-speed steel with a hardness rating of 60-63 HRC, it delivers consistent performance under the repeated impact loads common in production stamping environments. The 3.5-inch overall length provides adequate reach for standard mold and die configurations, and the 0.5-inch minimum machinable length allows for regrinding to extend service life.
This blank punch is suited for use in toolroom, production stamping, and progressive die applications across metal fabrication shops and precision machining operations. The Jektole (HJB) Series design is widely used in standard die sets where interchangeable, precision-ground punches are required. It is typically installed by toolmakers and die setters working with standard ball lock punch retainers. The blank format allows the working end to be machined to a custom profile, making it a versatile starting point for specialized punch geometries.
Designed for use in standard ball lock punch retainer systems compatible with the Jektole (HJB) Series by Dayton Progress. Intended for toolroom and production die sets requiring a 0.875-inch shank ball lock punch blank.
Installation is performed by qualified toolmakers or die setters. Before punch installation or removal, the press must be fully de-energized and the ram blocked in accordance with applicable machine guarding standards. Ensure the ball lock retainer is free of debris and the locking pin is fully engaged before returning the die to service. Custom machining of the blank end should be completed prior to installation and must maintain concentricity with the shank to prevent off-axis loading.
