The DAYTON LAMINA 9-3224-26 is a heavy-duty die spring designed for use in metal stamping dies, punch press tooling, and similar industrial tooling applications. Built from chromium-vanadium steel, it features a 2-inch hole diameter, a 1-inch rod diameter, and a free length of 6 inches. The spring carries a red color designation, which identifies its heavy-duty load rating within the standard die spring classification system. At maximum operating deflection, it delivers a load of 1,580 pounds with a maximum deflection of 1.8 inches. Licensed tool and die makers, press technicians, and maintenance machinists install this component in production tooling assemblies.
This spring is suited for heavy-duty stamping, forming, and stripping operations in industrial press tooling. Its D-shaped wire cross-section allows tighter coil packing and greater load capacity compared to round-wire springs of the same envelope size. With a maximum operating deflection of 30 percent of free length and a travel-to-solid measurement of 2.06 inches, it is appropriate for high-cycle tooling where consistent force and deflection repeatability are critical. It fits standard die sets used in automotive, appliance, and general metal fabrication stamping lines.
Designed as an ISO 10243 standard die spring replacement for heavy-duty tooling applications requiring a 2-inch hole diameter, 1-inch rod diameter, and 6-inch free length in the red duty classification.
Installation is performed by qualified tool and die makers or press maintenance technicians. The press or tooling assembly must be fully de-energized and the ram locked out before spring replacement. Do not compress the spring beyond its rated travel-to-solid dimension, as overloading will permanently reduce service life. Inspect the mating rod and pocket bore dimensions for wear or damage before installing a replacement spring.
