The DAYTON LAMINA 9-3224-21 is a medium-duty die spring engineered for use in metal stamping dies, press tooling, and industrial mold assemblies. It features a 2-inch hole diameter, a 1-inch rod diameter, and a 6-inch free length, making it a standard-size option for a wide range of tooling applications. Manufactured from chromium-vanadium steel, it delivers consistent force and fatigue resistance across repeated compression cycles. The blue color coding identifies it as a medium-duty spring per ISO 10243 classification. Maximum deflection load is 999 pounds, with a maximum operating deflection of 2.24 inches. Tool and die makers and press maintenance technicians are the primary installers of this component.
This die spring is used in stamping presses, injection molds, forming dies, and similar industrial tooling where controlled return force is required. Its D-shaped wire cross-section allows for higher load capacity in a compact space compared to round-wire alternatives. The blue medium-duty rating suits applications that require moderate spring force without the aggressive load rates of heavy-duty or extra-heavy-duty configurations. It is suited for both new tooling builds and replacement of worn or broken die springs in existing press setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-build component for industrial stamping dies, press tooling, and mold assemblies requiring a 2-inch hole diameter, 1-inch rod diameter, medium-duty die spring conforming to ISO 10243 dimensional standards.
Die spring installation and replacement should be performed by qualified tool and die technicians with the press fully de-energized, ram blocked, and all stored energy relieved before accessing the tooling. Inspect the die pocket and guide rod for wear or damage before installing the new spring. Never stack die springs end-to-end to achieve additional travel unless the tooling was explicitly designed for that configuration. Follow applicable OSHA machine guarding and lockout-tagout procedures throughout the service process.
