The DAYTON LAMINA 9-3220-21 is a medium-duty die spring engineered for tooling and stamping die applications. It features a 2 inch hole diameter, a 1 inch rod diameter, and a 5 inch free length. The spring is wound from chromium-vanadium steel and color-coded blue to indicate its medium-duty load classification. It delivers a maximum deflection load of 1,013 pounds at full travel and allows up to 1.88 inches of maximum deflection, equating to 37.5 percent of free length. The D-shaped wire cross-section provides consistent seating and precise load distribution within die sets. Licensed toolmakers, die setters, and press maintenance technicians are the primary installers of this component.
This die spring is suited for use in metal stamping dies, progressive dies, blanking dies, and forming tooling across both production and prototype applications. The 5 inch free length and medium-duty rating make it a common fit for moderate-load applications where controlled deflection and repeatable spring force are required. It is appropriate for use in both automotive and general industrial die work where ISO 10243 and NAAMS-compliant components are specified.
Designed as an ISO 10243-compliant replacement or new-installation die spring for tooling applications requiring a 2 inch hole diameter, 1 inch rod diameter, and 5 inch free length in a medium-duty blue classification.
Die springs are installed by qualified toolmakers or die maintenance technicians. Always ensure the press and associated tooling are fully de-energized, de-pressurized, and mechanically blocked before removing or replacing die springs. Verify that the bore diameter and rod diameter in the die set match the spring dimensions before installation. Never compress a die spring beyond its rated maximum deflection, as exceeding the travel-to-solid dimension can cause premature fatigue failure or damage to the die set.
