The DAYTON LAMINA 9-0605-36 is an extra heavy-duty die spring designed for use in stamping dies, punch presses, and similar metal-forming tooling. Built from chromium-vanadium steel with a D-shaped wire cross-section, this spring delivers high load capacity in a compact envelope. It features a 3/8-inch hole diameter, a 3/16-inch rod diameter, and a 1-1/4-inch free length. Maximum deflection load is 46.00 pounds at 0.3100 inches of deflection, making it well suited for high-cycle tooling applications where consistent spring force is critical. The yellow color coding identifies it as an extra heavy-duty rating per ISO 10243.
This die spring is used in production stamping and forming dies across automotive, fabrication, and general metalworking shops. It fits standard die sets where a 3/8-inch hole and 3/16-inch guide rod are specified. The extra heavy-duty rating makes it appropriate for applications requiring maximum force within a small spring cavity. It is typically installed by toolmakers, die setters, and maintenance machinists performing die builds or spring replacement in punch press tooling.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-build die spring for standard die sets specifying a 3/8-inch hole diameter and 3/16-inch guide rod diameter with a 1-1/4-inch free length cavity.
Die springs are installed by qualified toolmakers or die setters with the press locked out and all stored energy released before any die work begins. The spring must be seated squarely on its guide rod and within its retaining pocket to prevent lateral loading. Do not compress beyond the rated maximum deflection of 0.3100 inches during operation, as exceeding this value reduces spring life significantly. Inspect springs regularly for cracking, set, or corrosion and replace in matched sets when possible to maintain balanced die performance.
